Hi All, Has anyone ever grabbed yoru cane away from you, or anything like that? When i was in fifth grade, while on the structure, I had left my cane at the base while I was playing, and some kids buried it in the tanbark! Lol!!! It was harsh then, and it might sound harsh, but I kind of laugh about it now. Still ... I know people haveh ad experiences that have been worse than this, and are not funny to thsi day. Caitlin

Um, I've never really had that problem. I go to a blind school. So that isn't much of an issue. Some times my guy friends hid it from me as a joke, but they always gave it back. I do have a friend who had a problem with kids jump over the thing. She said it was a big time distraction.

I've had friends take it away, but they've given it back thank goodness. It still makes me mad when they do it, but what can ya do. I mostly get "can I play with your stick?" hahahaha

Oh, it happened to me in high school and I didn't think it was funny at all. Shame I didn't threaten to pluck their eyes out or something just to see how they managed. Bwahahahahaaaaa!!! It's one thing to ask people you trust who you know will give it back, but it's another thing for peope to just up and take it when you don't expect it and start walking away with it.

You know, I always get the "Can I play with your stick?" question too. LOL. Have any of you gone through more than four or five canes in a year? I can honestly say I have. People, especially the stupid sighted people at my high school, love to play Jump-over-the-cane games, and end up jumping on my cane and snapping it in half. That makes for a very, very, very ticked off little me! And you know, it wouldn't be so bad if they stopped and helped me pick it up, or maybe ask me if I need help to my next destination, but nooooooooooo! The last time my cane got snapped in half, I could tell it was a guy because I heard his friend say, "Hey, dude, you broke her stick!" Yeah, and next time, I would love to break it over your thick skulls! Heeheehee.

Yeah I used to have that. I would be standing there talking to the person and all of a sudden, snatch! I'm like um, excuse me, give me my cane please? I can't stand when folks do that.

Yeah, no one has ever just taken it for no reason. But my friends always ask if they can play with my stick...And I'll never forget the time I was in a grocery store and some old woman stopped by and asked me, "Why are you swinging that golf club around?" Lol!!!

I once had a kid walk up to me in elementary school and give my cane a nice pull. I had it held upright in my right hand, and he was all, "Give me that pole." I just pulled it back and was like, "Nope." He walked off. I've never had it physically taken from me. Thank God for collapsable ones. lol
